PHASE 1: SUBMISSION PHASE

In order to compete, contestants must submit 2 to 3 songs, a typed biography including a picture, and a non-refundable $50 processing/entry fee via email. In addition submissions will be accepted for models and graffiti artists. The models and graffiti artists must submit 2 photos of their work along with the $50 processing/entry fee.

PHASE 2: NOMINATION PHASE

The call for entries will close as of June 19th, 2010. A nominating committee appointed by the executive board will review the submissions. Once the committee has reviewed the submissions, they will choose no more than 4 artists per category for nomination. The nominations will be released on July 1st, 2010. The nominees will be contacted and notified of their nomination. An artist can be nominated for more than one category.

PHASE 3: FINAL VOTING PHASE

The winners of the Underground Music Awards are determined via Online voting by the general public. A music clip and the name of each nominee within the individual categories will be placed on Urban Buzz Factor.com. On July 6th, 2010, the public will be able to vote for the winners of each category via online voting on Urban Buzz Factor.com. The voting process ends on August 6th 2010. The nominee who receives the most online votes will win for the category he/she is competing in. In addition there will be special awards presented for: Lifetime Achievement, Community Give back, Best Website, Best magazine, Best DVD magazine, A&R of the year, Video director of the year, Best up and coming urban fashion designer, and Best underground DJ. The nominees will compete in the following categories:
1. Best Male Rapper 2. Best Female Rapper 3. Best Rap Group 4. Best R&B Male 5. Best R&B Female 6. Best Reggae/Dance Hall artist 7. Underground Producer of the Year 8. Best Indie Album 9. Best Contemporary Gospel artist 10. Best Dirty South Hip Hop song 11. Most promising Male unsigned Artist 12. Most promising Female unsigned Artist 13. Best live performance 14. Best freestlye (rapper) 15. Best spoken word 16. Dime Piece Award (for most promising upcoming model) 17. Best Graffiti Artist 18. Best R&B Group Male 19. Best R&B Group Female 20. Male Artist of the Year 21. Female Artist of the Year And More

In addition there will be special awards presented for: Lifetime Achievement, Community Give back, Best Website, Best magazine, A&R of the year, indie label of the Year, Best up and coming urban fashion designer, and Best underground DJ.

PHASE 4: THE OFFICIAL 8th ANNUAL UNDERGROUND MUSIC AWARDS CEREMONY

The votes will be tabulated and the winners will be presented awards at the 8th Annual Underground Music Awards ceremony to be held on 08/22/10 as part of the UMA weekend of August 21st, 22nd, 23rd 2010 at the BB Kings Theatre in NYC. Each winner will receive an official Underground Music Award trophy. There will be special guest performances, a fashion show, and comic relief at the ceremony. In addition, you can expect a blazin' after-party following the award show. Below are additional rules and regulations: --Each song must be an original recording. --Only a max of three songs can be submitted per artist/group. . --No submission will be processed without the $50.00 non-refundable entry fee. --Rules and regulations are subject to change. --In order to preserve the integrity of this competition, family members and friends of the staff of Urban Threshold Inc. and its subsidiaries are not eligible to participate.
